Today was a great day. A much needed day.
I woke up naturally, not to the sound of an alarm, around 9:15. I could've slept more but could hear the others wandering around so I decided I should get up. I took my sweet time getting ready and then made myself some breakfast and sat out on the deck in the sunshine and ate. Around 10:30 I decided to go across the street to grab a coffee for Jane and I and along the way I stopped at the supermarket and mall area to see if I could find a tube for my painting. I was directed to look somewhere else every time I asked - no luck.
Once I got back Steve helped me take out all of the staples holding my painting on the frame and then we rolled it up. I had asked the hotel guy to keep his eye out for a tube for me and he said he knew somewhere where he may be able to find one. I hadn't seen him all morning yet though.
It looked like it was going to be a hot sunny day out so I decided to go for a walk down by the beach and perhaps go for a swim! I walked all along the water for a good hour and scoped out some good beach spots. It was around lunch time then so I decided to quickly walk back to the holt and see if Tony, the hotel man, had any luck with finding a tube so I would know if I had to spend the afternoon hunting for one. Turned out he had found some tubing! He bought me two since I had told him I could duct tape them together if they didn't have one long enough. Then it was arts and crafts time. Steve got out his pocket knife and cut out the middle caps so we could put the painting in and duct tape it all together securely. Worked like a charm.
When that was all done with I took the tube and headed off to the post office, hoping that the same lady from yesterday wouldn't be there again. She was, but I was directed to her evil, possibly twin sister. She told me I needed to open it up and show her what was inside, which is fair, but that wasn't going to happen. She told me "it's your countries fault, not mine". I didn't want to deal with them there anymore so I decided I would just carry it with me until the next place and try the post there.
I was so angry with the post ladies that I stopped at the market on the way back and got a beer to go with my lunch snacks. I headed back to the hotel and sat outside and ate my lunch and relaxed. Most of the others were at the hotel in the afternoon as well so we all just hung out and relaxed. There was a Djokovic vs. Cilic match on so we all had our tv's on that channel and wandered in and out of each other's rooms watching.
When the match ended around 6 it was time for wine and chocolate before dinner!
Dinner was at 7:30 and we had 3 new people that joined us - one whom is my new roomie (Donna from Australia). I had another traditional meat and veggies plate. From there some of us went for a walk down to the beach area and got some gelato before heading back to bed!
Beach!:
